Artist Statement:
Traveling the land is something that has changed my perspective. From helicoptering over Nisga'a territory to driving to Tkaronto and back, I have learned something from each place I have gone. Northwest Traveller is a helmet-inspired sculpture, the helmet being referenced from ancient Northwest Coast helmets. In this piece, there is a large whale with shell teeth, and a human man holding onto its dorsal fin.
